关于我

2012.11.01导入了之前VicFengHunt和ScienceVic两个博客(MSN space→wordpress→163)的所有内容,前者的标签全都是中文,后者的标签全是英文,非常好分辨。简单概括一下,两个博客的主题分别是:“苦逼物理男的文艺生活”和“文艺物理男的苦逼生活”。建立ScienceVic的时候我是想把它建设成纯学术博客的,但是后来也开始扯乱七八糟东西了。总之以后这里就是家了,今后所有的新日志仍将同步至wordpress和人人。注:网易只能导入零六年七月之后的文章。

Differential Forms

I've just known last week that there are two ways, or say, "conventions" to develope the General Relativity. The physics contents for these two conventions are the same. One is Tensor Analysis, which is used in most of the GR textbooks such as Weinberg's and Wald's, the other is Differential Forms, used in the 1300+ pages thick book Gravitation. My advisor told me yesterday that although differential forms is more abstract, it's a good way to understand physics deeper and sometime easier for us to deal with the maths.
 
So I am studying Schutz's Geometrical Methods of Mathematical Physics. At first I thought learning maths by English textbooks is too hard for me, while when I sit down and read carefully, I gradually found it's not that hard! Now I can read the book even on the train to school or home, just like the physics books I read before. I'm also going to study Flanders' Differential Forms with Applications to Physical Sciences. So maybe two weeks later I can understand Gravitation very easily.
